Temperature Sensors
What is a Thermistor? A thermistor is a thermally sensitive resistor that exhibits large, predictable and precise changes in electrical resistance when subjected to corresponding changes in the body temperature of the thermistor. An NTC thermistor or Negative Temperature Coefficient thermistor is a temperature sensing device where resistance decreases with an increase in the body temperature of the thermistor. A PTC thermistor or Positive Temperature Coefficient thermistor is a temperature sensing device where resistance increases with an increase in the body temperature of the thermistor. An RTD or Resistance Temperature Detector is a device that produces a positive, predictable and nearly linear relationship between its temperature and its resistance value. Thermistor products are offered in surface mount and leaded forms. A wide range of probe assemblies that contain thermistors are also offered. These temperature sensing devices are recognized for their accuracy and long term reliability. They are an excellent sensor for applications involving temperature measurement and control. Typical applications are found in Industrial Controls, Medical Electronics, HVAC-R's, the Aerospace industry, White Goods and Food Handling Equipment.
Littelfuse acquired U.S. Sensor Corporation in 2017 and manufactures a wide variety of temperature sensing thermistors and thermistor probe assemblies.
