What is a battery strap PTC device? The battery strap PTC device is an axial leaded PTC device that provides non-cycling protection against overcharging and short circuit events for rechargeable battery cells. Several material platforms are available to help meet the specific protection needs of different cell chemistries (e.g. Li-ion, NiMH, and NiCd). A variety of space efficient, low-profile form factors helps the designer minimize pack size. The battery strap PTC devices have axial leads that allow them to be welded directly to battery cells. The LR, LT, SL, ST, VL and VR Series have voltage ratings ranging from 12 volts to 24 volts and maximum fault current ratings of 100 amps.
