Automotive TVS Diodes

What are automotive TVS diodes? Automotive TVS Diodes or transient voltage suppressors respond to overvoltage events faster than most other types of circuit protection devices. Automotive TVS Diodes feature low clamping voltages and quick response times that are useful for protecting against very fast and damaging voltage transients, such as lightning, inductive load switching and electrostatic discharge. TVS stands for discrete transient voltage suppression. Littelfuse offers three automotive TVS diode series specifically designed for use in automotive applications. The TPSMA6L and TPSMB series are both surface mount devices with a power rating of 600 watts. The TPSM6L series comes in the DO-221AC package type and has reverse standoff voltages ranging from 5 to 85 volts. The TPSMB series comes in the DO-214AA package type and has reverse standoff votages ranging from 11 to 78 volts. The SLD series is axial leaded and is offered in the P600 package type. The power rating is 2,200 watts and the reverse standoff voltages range from 10 to 60 volts.
